DVD Release date

The release date of the DVD has been confirmed to be the 1st April 2011.

It was previously scheduled for a late March release but because they are adding about 18 min worth of extras onto the DVD, the release date has been pushed back a little.

Just one more week now!

Update on Yesasia

I’ve just received a confirmation that all those who preordered through yesasia are fine will be receiving their copies with no problems!

(sorry for taking so long to confirm that!)

Only a few days left for preordering!

Just a quick remainder that this last preorder period ends 28th February.

I STILL havent got any confirmation from ENE about Yesasia. -_- As I mentioned, I’ve been told by ENE at the moment, Innolife is the only valid site to preorder this limited edition of the dcut. I’ve asked them to double check that since Yesasia still has the link and I also asked what about the ppl who have already preordered from Yesasia. But I still havent received a firm answer on that.

My advice is, if you havent preordered or were waiting for some sort of confirmation, just order from innolife to ensure you do get your copy before the 28th Feb. In the meantime I will keep chasing.

PS about ordering for fans in the US, Canada and Hong Kong, I am still trying to find out the reason why it is not available via Yesasia. Innolife is definitely ok though. Hopefully I can work it out before the 28th!

Preorder your copy of the DVD now

So ENE has opened up the preorders for the dcut for the 3rd time today: 1st Feb to 28th Feb. I’ve confirmed a few things:-

(1) English subtitles will be available for the main 20 episodes

(2) Region codes are 3, 4, 5 and 6

(3) The current contents for the dvd are

– Ep 1 -20 with approx 50 min of cut scenes

– 450 min worth of extras

– 56page guidebook; postcards; calendar (2011 January –  2012 April, since the release of the dvd has been delayed)

You can preorder your copy from 1 of 2 sites:

(1) INNOLIFE

Chinese/English

http://shop.innolife.com/shop/list.php?ac_id=89&ai_id=17990

Japanese

http://shop.innolife.net/shop/list.php?ac_id=76&ai_id=173417

OR

(2) YESASIA

http://www.yesasia.com/global/sungkyunkwan-scandal-dvd-12-disc-english-subtitled-directors-version/1023718765-0-0-0-en/info.html

A few things to take note of:

(1) There is a slight difference in pricing between the 2 sites (Innolife US$153, Yesasia US$154.99) – The price at innolife includes shipping to China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan (it says shipping to anywhere Asia is included on the site but I’ve been told it’s just those 4 countries). There may also be additional shipping charges later on when the weight of the dvd is confirmed.

Yesasia, even though the price is slightly higher, includes free international shipping and there should be no extra charges even if the weight of the dvd turns out to be heavy.

(2) Innolife accepts credit card payment internationally and direct deposit for those in China. Yesasia accepts credit card, direct deposit, Paypal, Check/money order

(3) Previously overseas fans had to leave a msg on the ENE site to confirm their order but I have confirmed with ENE and there is NO NEED to do so now.

My advice:

Both sites are reliable and I’m sure many of you are familiar with Yesasia. Innolife is less known but has been used for many previous dcut preorders such as You’re Beautiful and City Hall. My personal advice is to order through Yesasia as they accept more forms of payment, there are no additional shipping fees and their customer support is definitely much easier to deal with.

If you would like to use Innolife, here is a bit of a guide. As for Yesasia, you may refer to the Help pages on the site if you are using the site for the first time. If you have any questions about ordering, please leave your queries here and I will try to help to the best I can.

PS. Unfortunately, I think Yoochun ended up filming his part of the commentary by himself. ><

PPS. The DVD is planned for a end of march release

Some major changes – updates coming soon

There has been some major shake ups over at the dvd cafe as 2 of the main admins have been accused of being involved with monetary issues over at the Secret Garden dc gallery. This has caused many members at the SSKS cafe to lose faith in the admins and therefore those 2 admins have resigned from the cafe and the money which was being collected by the cafe is now in the process of being returned to the members.

I have spent the last few days trying to figure out just exactly where this is all going but dont worry, I am now in contact with someone from ENE and will find out details ASAP.

On the latest notice on ENE, they have announced that the release of the DVD has been pushed to the end of March and that the 3rd round of preorders will take place from 1st february to 28th february. So dont worry there is plenty of time and I will work out the details ASAP and update you guys.

Stay posted!

Dcut DVD Package [subject to change]

Finally some good news!! Since ENE has been very uncooperative, the cafe admins have instead approached Lemon Rain (The company which holds production copyrights to the drama) and after communicating with them have available a much more detailed Dcut DVD package content list.

(1) DVD (Episodes 1-20)

There will be in total about 70 minutes of unseen/cut footage which will be re-edited into the 20 episodes.

(2) Making/NG vids

Not sure as to exactly how many/duration of the NG vids that will be included as this is undergoing editing at the moment.

(3) DVD commentary,interview

Yoochun’s commentary still has not been recorded yet. The recording is scheduled to take place within January and Lemon Rain said they will try their hardets to get Yoochun and Minyoung together for the commentary at least.

(4) Calendar

(5) Mini photo album

(6) Special benefit for those who preorder – this part is still unconfirmed but Lemon Rain said they will come up with something.

Finally the DVD is seeming to take some form of structure. Please watch this space!

Happy new year!

I know everyone is waiting for some news but unfortunately has stayed silent all this time ><

The admins over at the daum cafe are hoping to arrange a meeting with ENE sometime next week!

I’ll keep you posted!

Important notice regarding preorders – please read carefully!

It just has to be complicated, doesnt it?

I know many of you have been waiting for news on how to preorder and for more details on the DVD itself but it seems that ENE does not want to communicate with fans and seems to be IGNORING the existence of overseas fans.

First of all, as I mentioned, there is no mention of preordering for overseas fans in the latest notice by ENE. The only information is for korean fans and it directs them to interpark, yes24 etc. Previously overseas fans were able to make orders via innolife and yesasia but ENE makes no mention of preordering info via those sites on their website anymore. The deadline for the preorder in Korea is 15th January 2011 but this info is also not stated on innolife or yesasia. Even after the news that the director’s cut has been confirmed, ENE has not made any updates on the contents of the dvd.

The biggest issues that the Korean fans are focusing on now are regarding the commentary and the special package for preordering fans. Previously it was confirmed by ENE that somehow Yoo Ah In had already recorded the interview and commentary by himself. There has been much dispute over this and in the latest replies from ENE, they say they will work hard to try to get all 4 together, at least Yoochun and Minyoung together. But at this stage they say they cannot confirm this.

The 2nd issue is the special package. Usually in Korea, for a dcut release, for ALL preorders there is a special package offered that wold not be available to those who decide to purchase the DVD later on after it is released (eg for You’re Beautiful, there was a poster, a random gift, a personalised ANJELL fanclub membership card with fan’s name). For many dramas in the past, the dcut was exclusive to preordering customers and it wouldnt even be available afterwards. However in the case with SKKS (and looking at ENE’s releases this year), it is probable that they will continue to sell this dvd even afterwards. Anyway, as you know, previously ENE had promised that that the first 1000 people who preordered the uncut version would get a special ‘gift’ (still dont know what it is though). However, following from what I said before, everyone who makes the preorder now should also be offered some sort of special package. But ENE has stated that they have no plans for one.  This has obviously made the korean fans not very happy. The admins at the korean cafe argued that many fans have refrained from making a preorder because they were waiting for a confirmation for the dcut, and that’s why they did not make payment before the 21st November. To this, ENE states that they will consider offering the fans a special package if the cafe admins can give them a list of people who will definitely be preordering.

So, this is what is happening now:-

(1) The korean daum cafe has decided that they will be taking payment personally from fans who want to preorder but are holding out because ENE is not offering a special package

(2) Because it is too difficult for overseas fans to transfer money to Korea and I understand many people will feel uncomfortable sending money in this way, we have decided that only Korean fans will be making the deposits. HOWEVER,

(3) it doesnt mean that overseas fans should just sit and wait but rather, we need to also create a list for those would definitely buy. The list of applications from overseas fans has somewhat stopped at 200. WE NEED TO MAKE THIS NUMBER BIGGER in order for us to have any negotiating power. So PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD. To those interested in buying and have not send your details to me already, please send me your nickname/real name/email address/copies you would buy – to scandaldvd@gmail.com

(4) The deadline for us to gather as many names as possible has been set for 31st DECEMBER 2010. As the cut off date for ENE is 15th January 2011, it would be better for us to have 2 weeks or so to present the list (and money received from korean fans) to ENE in order to negotiate. The most optimal scenario is that we present everything to ENE after the 31st December, negotiations are ok and everyone will have 2 weeks to place the order and make the payment.

I know there are many people who may find all this a bit too overwhelming and cannot be bothered with this. I myself am struggling working 6-7 days a week and I am writing this now at 3:47am when I have work tomorrow. We are fans, yes, but we are also consumers and I think as consumers, we need to be clear what we are getting and get what we are entitled to. If you decide to go ahead and just pay obviously you can, but seeing what ENE has been doing all this time, I feel uncomfortable handing over my money to them without them addressing our requests and entitlements. I mean, there’s no mention even on their site of yesasia or innolife! Through various conversations with ENE from the daum cafe, ENE has questioned us again and again why there are only 200 people overseas interested in the DVD. It seems that they have now seemed to disregard our existence because 200 people is not much compared to the 2000 in korea (For You’re beautiful dcut, we had close to 1000 overseas preorders). I have stressed many times to them that the situation overseas is very different to Korea as people are from all over the world, it’s not as simple as someone transferring money into an account because we are much more wary when we make transactions online. This is also the reason why I feel quite helpless in this situation – the only thing that we can do is to try to gather as many people as possible.

So in conclusion, what we are asking now is

(1) Your details – nickname/real name/email/no. of copies you would buy; to scandaldvd@gmail.com if you have not done so already

(2) Spread the word!

Preorder Info not yet available

I did say that I would post instructions on how to preorder the DVD in the previous post but actually there is no confirmed info at the moment.

Before the director’s cut was confirmed, ENE was taking preorders for the uncut version up til the end of november and so on the ENE site, the preorder section also says that it has ended. However, because it has been changed to a director’s cut, the release date has been pushed back to february and as a result, the preorders will also open again and another deadline will be set. ENE will make notices as soon as they finalise details and start taking preorder payments again. I would restrain from ordering anywhere online for now until further instructions are released.

Thanks for your patience!
